Nixing the Tricks for Conceptual Understanding
Stop the "magic" and start the math. Inspired by Tina Cardone’s Nix the Tricks, this session challenges the use of shortcuts and mnemonics that bypass mathematical reasoning. We will explore how to replace "tricks"—like Keep-Change-Flip or Butterfly Method—with research-based strategies that build lasting conceptual understanding and align with Ohio’s Learning Standards. Gifted education PD hours available!
No cost for Aligned Member Districts | $25 per person, per session for Non-Member Districts.
Payment or purchase order must be received prior to the first day of training. Payment may be made in the form of a credit card, check, or purchase order made payable to the ESC of Eastern Ohio.
