Intended Audience: Teachers
This session, rooted in The Writing Revolution, will explore ways in which we can engage students in the social studies classroom through writing. In addition to exploring authentic and relevant sentence writing strategies such as Because, but, so..., Kernel Sentences, Developing Questions, and Subordinating Conjunctions, participants will also explore visual discovery as a method of deepening conceptual understanding in social studies and communicating that understanding through meaningful writing. Participants will make and take an activity to promote complex writing.
