TRANSITION SERVICES

The ESC of Eastern Ohio provides work study and transition services to all identified high school students between the ages of 14 and 22. The  Transition Department provides a number of services and supports to increase post secondary outcomes for students with disabilities to maximize each student’s vocational potential.

We prepare students for post secondary training and education, community integrated employment, and independent living. Our Transition Coordinator acts as a liaison between the school, vocational school, community agencies, businesses, and parents to assure the appropriate delivery of transition services based on the individual strengths and needs of the students.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIOANS WITH DISABILITIES

The Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities is the designated state agency for providing Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and other services to people with disabilities.

The OOD/MCESC Partnership for Transition Youth is created through an agreement between the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) and the Mahoning County Educational Service Center (MCESC) and is the only one in the State of Ohio to provide vocational rehabilitation services to transition youth with disabilities.

Through this collaboration transition youth with disabilities in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties will have the opportunity  to obtain self-sufficiency, independence and quality employment. The focus population includes transition-aged youth with significant disabilities enrolled in school.
